This medical model home is able to provide residential services for individuals with varying level of medical needs, but most importantly, in developing this home they were able to assist an individual who had became ventilator dependent to remain in his community near his family and friends. The Austen-Dooley Company now operates medical model homes in the Kansas City, Springfield and St. Louis areas.
Currently the Austen-Dooley Company employs over 180 direct support professionals and management team members. We support over 60 men. women and children with varying degrees of developmental disabilities and/or medical needs through 11 group homes and 5 ISL's.
KELLY DOOLEY CREEK
Kelly Dooley Creek
Kelly was born in Ft. Collins, Colorado and raised in Ventura, California. She attended the University of California at Santa Barbara and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Sociology. In 1991 she left southern California and took a job in Kansas City, Kansas where she managed a group home for people with mental retardation. This was Kelly’s first experience in working with people with disabilities.
In 1992 Kelly took a QMRP/Program Manager position with Heartland Residential Care in Liberty, Missouri where she worked until June 1999. Dismayed by the lack of quality services for the developmentally disabled, Kelly went to work for the Independence Housing Authority where she assisted elderly and disabled individuals in securing public housing. It was during this time that she met Austen Plain and they began to discuss the needs of several individuals (whom they both knew) that were in desperate need of quality home care.
In August 2001 Austen Plain and Kelly Creek formed the Austen-Dooley Company in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. In May 2005 Kelly and Austen purchased an old Victorian home in the downtown Lee’s Summit business district and with some renovations, they turned this old home into the Austen-Dooley headquarters. For over 10 years Kelly's leadership and knowledge has helped the Austen-Dooley company remain deficiency free in all State and local certification reviews.
Kelly completed her Masters Degree in Management through Baker University in September 2008. She is excited by the growth of Austen-Dooley Company as she continues to see a real need for quality care for individuals with disabilities. Kelly is confident that Austen-Dooley Company can continue to meet these needs for years to come.
