This month we are spotlighting Diann D. who works in St. Louis as a DSP. She has been an ADC team member for six months. We appreciate Diann because she has done such an excellent job with our residents, especially with some of their behavioral challenges. She makes sure they have meaningful activities every day. From arts and crafts to board games, she always makes sure they have something enjoyable to do, and she always makes sure to share pictures of what they are doing as well. Families love seeing all the pictures she shares with us.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working at Austen-Dooley?

A: The thing I enjoy most is just working with the clients. I also enjoy working with ADC because of the communication. Supervisors always keep us informed and updated. Everybody is friendly.

Q: What is one piece of advice for others in your profession?

A: Keep up on your training. Keep an open mind and stay on target with what you need to get done.

Q: Who in your life inspires you and why?

A: My daughter. She works in the medical field as well and really enjoys it. Also, I have a handicap son, so I understand people with disabilities. I have taken care of him his whole life.

Q: What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

A: Spend time with my family. Sunday is family day; we always have dinner.

Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?

A: I moved here from Arkansas. I lived in the country. I know how to can and sew; my mom taught us how to do all of that. My mom had ten boys and four girls. She taught us all how to take care of ourselves and make something of our lives.
