This month we are spotlighting Doris R. who works in St. Louis as a DSP; she has been with us for two years! We appreciate Doris because she is an amazing team member who makes the consumers and their home her first priority. She is always pleasant and cheerful and doesn’t let anything outside of work impact her caring and supportive nature when she is working with the residents.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at Austen-Dooley?
A: The clients and my bosses. I love that we get to do activities and I get to teach them new things.
Q: What drew you to this profession?
A: My cousin has down syndrome and I used to take care of him.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
A: My mom told me I can do anything I set my mind to if I work hard enough to get everything I need. She always told me that I have a big heart.
Q: What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
A: I help others. I like to bless other people. I do a lot of volunteer work whether it’s at a church or a community center.
Q: What three words would your friends use to describe you?
A: Caring, respectful, and outgoing.
